Last session for the week…what a nice family to end my busy work week with. The joy of working with older children, they stay posed when you ask them! I only say that because my session before this had the two year old twins….they made me WORK! Well their mom and aunt worked MUCH harder than I did. So, to have older kids in front of my camera is a nice change. I really have been having so much fun with all my latest family sessions….more to come still, can’t wait!

I was lucky enough to have a great family of cousins come into my studio earlier this week. Two year old twins…yep that was a challenge. I think I passed the test. The boys were SO helpful, I couldn’t have asked for anything more out of them. I LOVE how coordinated their outfits are…so cute!

Here are some images from yesterday’s session. Again, another pair of great assistants…that work for candy! I had such a good time with these two. I did learn a lesson however….never bring out the rubber chicken when there is a fourth grade boy in your studio, that is all I am going to say about that. Lesson learned. Enjoy!

Well, nine month olds….you just never know! Master B was fine just as long as I didn’t come too close to him. He was also not too thrilled to be left in the studio while mom took big sister to use the bathroom. We did find something he truly truly loved…my rocking Moose! He was SO happy to be there I wish I could have done his whole session while he rode it! I had to include a shot of big sister because I don’t think she had EVER smiled like this for me before. Are there shots I like better of her…yep, but THIS one is proof that she does have an amazing little smile hiding in there. So fun to watch her and her brother grow up!

Any of you that follow this blog might remember this beautiful little girl’s momma had some gorgeous maternity images here in February. Well, now I would like to introduce beautiful Miss M. What a sweet, sweet baby. She hardly cried, fussed, but not cried…until the end, but was quite content when momma or daddy held her. I hope to get caught up with proofing this weekend’s sessions and get some more images here on the blog. Until then, enjoy!

The beginning of this week I got to meet K1 and K2, well that is what I call them because I can never remember which is which and both their names start with “K”. It was a fun hour, lots of silliness and not much need for candy bribes! K1 was a challenge with all the fake smiles she liked to throw at me, but I was patient and waited for the real ones. K2, well I am not sure she has a fake smile, and if she does it is a nice one. She was VERY into modeling for me, that is why I love the storyboard of her modeling :) It was fun, I can’t wait to get your prints out to you!

so, we were talking at dinner on how much all of my children have very similarly shaped lips. The only difference is Skylar and her big full lipstick lips. All the other kids have a nice pouty bottom lip, but Skylar, she is borderline Angelina Jolie! Skye and Piper were doing some test shots with me tonight and I just loved this shot because of those gorgeous lips. I used a lightroom preset in the conversion. It made it look like she was wearing lipstick, although she wasn’t. Just figured I would share as I have not posted as much this year as I had hoped.

Oh brother, these two are quite the pair! I think I always love the challenge…and even better when you think one is going to be difficult and it turns out to be the other! All I have to say is that it was fun, and I laughed at these two a ton. What you really need to know is that Master M said that Master D may be skinny but he weighs a ton. He knows this because he was knocked down by him where his weight was on the stool that was over him. I saw the whole thing but still not sure how they managed it. Master M now has a hole right through his back which he was shocked was not bleeding as it felt like it was. I have to admit that both Master D and I were able to see clear through him now that he has the hole. Oh and he is dying now…shall we send the condolence cards now? Again, it was fun…oh and so funny to hear mom say that they would have been kicked out of a JC Penny type studio after the first few minutes! LOL

I can never figure out if it is a good thing or not when I have this hard of a time narrowing down a session for a client to see their proofs. This was one of those sessions that had so few obvious images that should NOT be a part of their gallery! I had planned on just posting a few to the blog that were my ultimate favorites, but I am just having a hard time deciding….so I may just post a few here and a few there so as not to keep this beautiful couple waiting much longer for some sneak peeks. With two big occasions happening in my family right at about the same time as their session has pushed out the proofing process for me. My first baby turned nine the same day as this session and I had not even seen her until well after this session was over. Then Sunday…teaching Sunday school and spending the day with all five of my Valentines. Now I plug away editing images while juggling the four kiddos who keep reminding me that they are here on their school vacation! I appreciate your patience Theresa and Rui! Hope the images were worth waiting for!

I loved working with this family. I always forget how nice it is to work with children over three! The cooperation really makes such a difference in the stress level. From what I understand it has been a very long time since there was a family portrait done. I am very happy that this image turned out as well as it did AND that they loved it as much as I did. I love the seriousness of their expression. I played with it tonight and found a nice black and white with a nice brown almost sepia tone. Just wanted to share. They were my last session for 2009. I am going to now enjoy the rest of the holiday season with my kids and their winter break from school. I will most likely post again this year but if not. I had such fun today with Miss M. She brought mom and dad with her today to have her portraits done. She is a very silly little five year old. She has the best silly smiles ever. I think to date, she is the best twirler I have ever had in front of my camera. She is just super adorable! Thanks for giving me such a nice afternoon Miss M and family! Hope you enjoy your proofs.

I have to admit, Kim is one of my most favorite clients of all times. She has been coming to work with me since Miss A was just a tiny baby. I get to see her children grow up, and our relationship has truly become a friendship. I love having her come in to place orders, it is a blast. Miss M brought her mom and dad in for portraits today. She was quite the assistant, keeping dad from going over the magic line and making sure they were sitting correctly in their poses. I think I should hire her. I had so much fun, it is always great to photograph a happy child who is very comfortable with adults…not to mention how easy it is to photograph them when they are as cute as her! OK all, it is November and I am SO in the mood for all things Christmas. Santa has his shopping done and I have tons of new holiday designs for this years cards (not that I have done MY cards yet). I had to update the music today with some Christmas music. Tori of course. I am getting very excited because Tori is releasing an album on the 10th called “Midwinter Graces” and I do hope to be getting this as a birthday gift…so I have to wait about a month to actually get to listen to it…but I will get a good ten days of listening to it before the holiday is over. So that is why I found a nice song from Tori to put on the blog to put you in that holiday mood. I am sure I will putting more holiday music up now through the holiday…because you just need to get in the mood :)

I have been working on Christmas since August. Yep, that is what I do come August…I try to scan the internet for card design inspirations. I find so many I love that I just need to try to replicate. That being said, I have tons that need new images to put in them. So, enter my facebook contest! You just need to be a fan of my business page http://tiny.cc/myfbfanpage <----just click there. Then you send me an image or images and I will put it in one of my designs or perhaps I will be inspired to create something brand new for your image. I had the pleasure to spend the day on Sunday with a friend I had not seen in YEARS. We became friends while I was pregnant with my second, and she with her first. Skye was born in Dec of 2002 and Talia in Jan of 2003. They have not seen each other since they were about one I believe. They became instant friends which was so awesome to see. Skylar even told her class about Talia during share time at school, and I hear Talia is telling everyone she went to see her “first” friend. So sweet.

Anyway….Miss Talia has gotten crazy big since I last saw her. She still has that beautiful strawberry hair and pretty smile. Her baby sister (who I just got to meet) reminds me so much of Talia as a baby I can’t even stand it. Talia was quite the natural behind the camera. Nola wanted very little to do with the whole event. I think I managed to get some great shots of her anyway.

I am sure I will post some family shots as well as some couple shots of mom and dad soon. For now enjoy my Talia collage and Nola storyboard.

Oh wait….I finally got around to changing the music on here. I figured that Pretty in Pink was fitting for Talia for sure. AND I have been listening to more music like this lately…the Cure etc. I love this song, always have…but thinking back to when I first heard it, it makes me feel crazy old….I guess I am, oh well.

The rain held off! We had been watching the weather for two days now. It looked to almost certainly be raining during this shoot…but I prayed, and it worked. It was beautifully overcast which made conditions good for me, but my poor model got a bit cold toward the end. Gotta love fall in New England, you just never know what the weather will do from minute to minute.

It was a pretty easy session for me tonight….I mean, I had a great model, not only is she beautiful, but follows direction so well. I had so many that I loved, and believe it or not, this is NOT all of them. Miss J, I will get the proofs to you and mom soon. I am sure this amount on the blog will help hold you till then. Thanks for a fun evening…oh and I hope mom gave you extra marshmallows in your hot chocolate…you worked hard for them!

As usual, it was difficult proofing the session from this beautiful family. I have such a hard time narrowing things down. I don’t much like making decisions. I am never sure if the expression I think is not as great, just might be the endearing one to mom. I usually keep those too and the ones I love. Anyway, I love this one…the bubbles in the lips, I mean…SHUT UP, he is so cute!Mom was hoping to get some shots of these cuties in their John Deere shirts as a surprise for daddy. Well, Miss Thing, is TWO…so getting ones of her and her three month old brother….ummm well, not so easy. I did get one, but it didn’t really show their faces well, so I chose to make a collage. I searched the net and found out the font that is used in the John Deere logo, well it is pretty close to it…very cute! (hope their dad doesn’t stalk my blog….if he does…SURPRISE!!! LOL) I didn’t know what to show on the blog. So, I made up a quick collage. Some of these are my favorites, and there are others I love, but these fit the layout :) As for this shot….well like I said earlier I am never sure what expression the parent might love. Now, this is not the best portrait ever. But, I have been working with this little girl for over a year now, so I am feeling like I am getting to know a bit about her. And if YOU knew her, you would know that THIS is HER. Hair up in a tail on top of her head, binkie in the mouth and the MOST loved on Elmo in the entire world close by. For those reasons, I kept this image. To ME, this captures her as she really is. Cute as can be :)

I am so in love with this little boy. He was just so easy to work with…well except he moved his head constantly. Just as I got the focus he would totally move. He was so content. Oh and he loved his hands. There are so many shots of him and his hands. I wanted to put something up tonight, and this one…well I loved how he was looking at his mom. If you could see this closer up, you can see his mom as a reflection in his eyes. She can make him smile and laugh and just look at her dreamy like this! Little boys melt my heart. I am thrilled that this little man is a part of my baby plan…I get to watch him grow up! I started to photograph him while he was in his momma’s belly. Then again at three weeks. Now he is three months and I can not believe how big he is. He weighs only a few pounds less than his two year old sister (but she really is a peanut…but still!)

I have been busy trying to find new designs to flatter a really cute set of girls. Here are the proofs that their mom got to see. The designs are also available to put your studio images in. I wonder which their mom will choose… This one is one I just made up today after seeing a similar design online. I am always scouring the web to be inspired by other designers. I had to throw this into this post because I am so far behind. This was from an image from a little girl who just loves her stuffed puppy. This I am told will match her bedroom to perfection! It will be hanging simply with a 1/4 inch foam board backing…it is going to look like a super cool poster. SO fun!

Pop Art {Connecticut Photographer}

So tonight I was playing with making Pop Art for three storyboards that I needed to create. I was pleased with the results (the last three pictured). I began to wonder if this would work with snap shots. So, I put a request out on Facebook for people to send me some snap shots that I could play with. They did, and I played. Some images seem to work better than others, but all in all, it works! I just wanted to show everyone how cool this could be….even with YOUR snap shots. So, if this is something you are interested in….contact me. I can totally see maybe four images in a big square and then maybe printed on canvas…super cool. If printed on photo paper it will give you more of a poster look. I am for sure going to make some for my kids rooms! But now…to bed with me. Oh, and on a side note for my photographer friends…I made an action for this…contact me if you are interested in purchasing it.

OK, so I had a cool idea today as I made myself a little wallpaper for my desktop. (It is of a shot from last year of my children) How cool would it be to have a custom wallpaper with an image from your session??? Well it would be cool, in my opinion so here is the deal. Any portrait session client that orders ANY of my packages from a 2009 session (this will apply even if your actual order is not placed until 2010) you will receive a free computer wall paper (digital file will be emailed to you) for your computer from one of your session images! How fun! I have to admit this forced me to clean up my desktop icons to get rid of the gazillion ones on there that I don’t even remember putting on there, you know the ones I NEVER use. Here is my actual desktop.

Holiday time is approaching fast, and I anticipate it being my busiest year yet, which means October, November and December may be difficult to get in when YOU want your appointment. Book now, take advantage of the current promotion of getting a free 11x14 print with your paid session fee…oh and then the very cool promotion of getting your very own desktop wallpaper created by moi. Mine is very simple, I am dreaming up some more creative ones for you.

Well, another fun family session for me today! Mom and Dad brought their “mini-me’s” in for a few portraits and I think we captured some good stuff! The girls were so much fun, I would show them a picture of what pose I wanted to try, and then they would arrange mom and dad accordingly…they seemed to love it. They weren’t so into having their individual portraits done, and even less into having ones done with their sister…but I got some really great ones of those poses. I will probably post some of those tomorrow because they really did a great job!

I love the shot of mom and dad because they have not had a “couple” shot since they were married (hmmm like many of us), and I was going for a shot of her looking at him lovingly…it became so silly, it feels weird to pose like that I am sure…you feel sorta stupid…but I ended up with this one of two genuine smiles that truly shows you all how much these two adore each other!

well, I have certainly been busy this week. The first week of school! It is nice to have three of the four in school, even if one is only in half day. The youngest will start preschool soon….so I get a few hours twice a week alone…imagine the work I could get done! I am working on as many holiday designs as I can before I get super busy with fall sessions. I have been going all over the internet for design inspiration and color ideas. It has been fun! I love love love doing these. Just wanted to share the latest. Now remember, you do not have to have an image from a session with me to order cards. You can have me retouch one of YOUR images and put it in one of these designs. OR, if you are a photographer (or someone who uses psd files) the designs are up for sale…please email regarding this.

are you ready? {Photo Holiday Greeting Cards}

Are you ready for the holiday season??? I’m getting ready by creating some new designs for holiday cards for 2009. I have searched the internet for inspiration from some of the best card sites out there…then I take some ideas from one, and an idea from another and make my own design. SO much fun!

Remember that you do not HAVE to come in to have portraits taken to have your holiday cards made by yours truly. Now, I know you can go to the box store down the road and get some cards made with one of your images… and yep they have some nice designs BUT you can not customize it with your own sayings or colors if you don’t love the one they use…..not to mention that they will NOT edit your image to be the best it can be the way I will. So, start thinking about it….get the kiddos lined up and photographed for your perfect holiday greeting card (you know, the one that all your friends and family will have to pick up the phone and call you to tell you how great your family looked). If you doubt your camera skills and really think I can’t save your image with Photoshop….then book your portrait session SOON, they fill up fast!

Minnesota Sunset {Connecticut Portrait Photographer}

We were gone on vacation last week to Minnesota. We get back there about every other year and this year it finally felt like a real vacation to me. I guess when your kids are out of diapers and can be in the water without you holding their hand….it makes a difference. I actually was able to read a book while we were there…seriously! It was fantastic, we spent all but one day just at the cabin playing in the lake, the other day was spent riding rides at the Mall of America….such fun.

I didn’t take all that many pictures…just enough to capture a few memories, but not too many that would equal work for me when I got home. There are a few I am quite pleased with, but many are just quick mom snaps of my kids. I did manage to be able to sit back on the pontoon boat while on “date night” with my love and capture some really nice sunset images. I was glad to see one of my the silhouettes I tried to make of Andy really came out well. This was my most favorite day of the trip. We had a nice meal with NO kids out on the lake, we fished, we talked, I took pictures, he fished some more. After that we spent time with Minnesota cousins out in front of the fire making s’mores and then watched satellites and the meteor showers. We then pulled out sleeping bags and laid out to watch and all the kids fell asleep around us. So neat to watch the meteors and listen to the loons…amazing night! I am totally printing this image…..and I so rarely print my own stuff!

This pretty lady shadowed me today. How cool does that make me? LOL, anyway. We went through all of the lovely things I do from start to finish with my job as a portrait photographer. One of the last things I do is to blog, so we put this image up and chose a song for it. I asked her what her favorite song was, or one she was really into right now….so her choice, Idina Menzel - Defying Gravity

Now that she has left, I have come back to edit this post as I felt is was something I did better without my model watching. Anyway…isn’t she super cute, personality to match! (she would have been embarrassed if I typed that as she sat next to me) She is going to make a great photographer!!!! As I wrote in my earlier post….I just loved working today. The only part of my job that I don’t like….cleaning my house before clients come. Funny because it isn’t that I clean MORE because I client is coming, but I clean and get annoyed if the place I just cleaned gets messed up by one of the kids. I normally would let that go while I moved on to cleaning the next room…but not when clients come. They deserve to have my house as clean as I can make it.

OK back to the point of my post here. I loved working today, I loved shooting, and working with Kelly and Ron, I also loved sorting through and editing their session. I was on such a roll, that I finished the whole thing tonight. My last session studio session I proofed fast, but not quite THIS fast. Thank you Adobe Lightroom!

I had found a similar shot to the one posted on top here on the internet (so no, this is not my original idea) and I really wanted to try it. I think it is cute. I really try with each session I do, to try something completely different than my last session. This was one of the few things. I also did some silhouettes which I will post another day.

This woman has NO stretch marks people….none, we have to hate her! They are a beautiful couple and I am sure there little boy is going to be quite the looker…can’t wait to meet him {hint hint…remember the earlier the better}.

With every maternity session I have, I love it more and more. This session was so much fun for me…..it always helps to work with a really fun couple, who are comfortable in their skin and comfortable with each other. Misty night at Charlestown Beach {Rhode Island Family Beach Photography}

How much do I love photographing this family? SOOOOO much! They are just so easy to work with. I hope that they feel that traveling in from Pennsylvania was worth the trip when they see these portraits. I know it was worth the trip to Rhode Island for me! This was Miss A’s first trip EVER to the beach, so I was thrilled to get to capture it for her family. She LOVED it. She loved eating shells (see image below) and sand. I mean she truly would have kept eating all of it. She also seemed to have no fear of the ocean even after falling face first into it! Maybe she just felt so secure with her two big brothers there to rescue her. I had a blast, but was very concerned how these were all going to turn out. It was foggy, then just misty. I think I pulled it off, just a different look than what I was thinking.

These kiddos have such beautiful eyes!

mom wanted family pictures, but I could not resist taking shots of just mom and dad. I bet they have not had many shots of them smooching it up since their wedding. I had big plans of them in a silhouette of the sunset…but you need the sun for that…we had mist. Here is a great misty kiss….dreamy!

Miss A LOVED her momma’s flip flops. I have quite a few of her putting them on and walking in them. I really just liked this one of her family looking on as she tries to get them on her feet without help. It was a fun night!

OK, I had to edit this blog post. I was thinking about how I really wanted to have a silhouette. So, I made one! I really dig it!

Last weekend I got to both attend a fun birthday party, but to have a mini photo session. Every year we have one big birthday party for my nieces and nephew who’s birth months are very close. Each year my sister-in-law advises me that I need to bring my camera. In the past few years it has expanded to, needing me to record the party as well as getting some good shots to make a thank you card for her to send out. This year I am feeling a bit funky with my post processing. I don’t often do natural light/outdoor sessions for people other than family so getting to play with non-studio images is really fun for me. Hope you all enjoy these!

I was going trough the images I had taken on my iPhone and I was posting them to Facebook as they are the only images I took of all the recent adventures we have been having. I found this on there from our trip to RI a while back. This was ALL done with the iPhone, I had downloaded a fun application that did the coloring and the polaroid effect. It is just a cool car, my dad built it (it’s a kit car).

I don’t think I need to explain why I chose “She thinks my tractor’s sexy” for these blog images :)

I had the great pleasure to attend this year’s race at Lametona. I have to say this show gets bigger and bigger every year as does the fun. I mean, it is hard not to have fun watching people chug beer and then race around a homemade track on tricked out lawn tractors. Seriously.

This year there was more mud than I have remembered and these shots above are just from the few test runs they did before the races even started. I do not remember the names of all who won the different divisions. I do remember that Bill and Ted won their division for the third year in a row, congrats Bill and Ted.

My favorite part of the event was after the race, my camera was safely packed away and I got to watch my almost five year old dance under the stars while the HUGE firework display was going off. The kids had an absolute blast. The Lame’s really know how to throw this event!

Hopefully more images will be worked on to show here….just have not had much time since the race…I have an extra kid this week, and as it is helpful, we are just off doing more things out of the house.

I managed to finish proofing Master B’s newborn session and I have played a bit, because I am so tired. Why do I find it easier to play in photoshop when I am beyond tired? Here is the little man with his big sister Miss C. You may recognize her…she has made it on the blog quite a few times, as she has been three times this past year. She was so cute and I think has gotten pretty comfortable being in my studio. She loved playing with the light meter…but her brother probably would have preferred a different more experience lighting assistant…she kept sticking it in his eye (or her mother’s eye). She even wanted to try out the bowl I managed to squeeze her brother into. These two are such cuties and I do hope to get a chance to see them grow up through the years.

here is a quick sneak peek from today’s session. I just barely had time to get these off my camera today before I had to leave, so I really have not gotten to really look through all the images of Master B. I do LOVE this one of him. He is such a good natured baby, he was fairly easy to get settled down, loved to be on his belly, and only peed on the backdrop once! I am leaving the song I had for yesterday’s posts for this one because as I was taking shots of this pose I told him that I needed shots for my empty frames in the studio and that “he could be the one”. I really think this one is going up…thanks little man…now I have to find three others I love to hang with you…maybe one of your sister!

adobe photoshop express {check this out people}

So, here is something wonderful that I want to share with those people who ask me for advice on taking great pictures with their digital cameras. I think that a huge part of a good snap shot and a great snap shot often lay in the hands of photoshop. Photoshop is an expensive program. I have CS3 and it cost a pretty penny even with the discount I found for it. Then there is Photoshop Elements…this is a great program, great price BUT you may not want to drop ANY money…so what do you do? Go to photoshop.com and register for a free photoshop express account. It looks like they give you quite a bit of space to store images there as well as easy ways to share the images you have worked on.

I took an image I shot in my back yard yesterday. I want to show you how to make your snap shots look more like a professional image. I used the camera I use in the studio in this shot. I usually do a custom white balance, but purposely didn’t for this image because most camera’s my family, friends and clients use are not able to make a custom white balance (you are probably wondering what the heck I am talking about). So, what I did was I set the camera to select my white balance automatically. Now all digital point and shoot cameras do this. Or you can set your camera based on the lighting you know you will be shooting with. For instance if you know you will be shooting indoors, you would choose the setting based on the lights you have incandescent or florescent. Now even when you set it “to the correct light” the color of the image can look off. With auto white balance the chances of that are greater. Look at my image here….it is a tad on the cool side and a bit underexposed for my taste. But I put it in photoshop express and fixed the exposure a bit, and used their auto white balance, and even added a bit of sharpening, then I cropped it tighter in a 5x7 ratio. Is it perfect, nope. In my Is it better, yep!

Here in my version you will see that the colors in her hat are different and her skin is a bit warmer. Here is the thing. The photoshop express version is better than what came out of the camera AND you probably wouldn’t have noticed that the color was not perfect until you saw it in comparison to the final version. I really recommend this free product! Make your snapshots frame worthy! Enjoy!!! Since I rarely do natural light and outdoor sessions I feel confident in sharing these secrets with you all LOL!

Once a week we have guests at our camp. This year they have named it “Camp Fun Kids”. It is so much fun to have seven kids running around my house. It is actually the easiest day I have of the week. Today one of our camp things was to just dance for 15 minutes….we chose to dance to Miley Cyrus {of course}. Then we did a search on the internet to find the newest song on Hannah Montana that they JUST watched today…..”he could be the one”…ummm they listened to it like 6 times! So, today that is what YOU get to listen to on the blog.

wanted to share this image of Pumpkin. She is such a pretty cat. She is my most annoying cat, as she has decided she is both an indoor and outdoor cat, therefore needing to be let in and out. We often forget her out. She gets out when we really want her in. She drives the neighbor’s dog crazy…etc.

I was playing the other day with a lens I don’t use as often as I should and Pumpkin seemed like an easy target, or I should say “model”. My children do not make for an easy model….not a one of them. I am usually given the most insane faces when trying to capture a nice image of them, now a cat…that should be easy. She is such a PAIN. Once she knows you are looking at her, she gets up and rubs her face on the lens and then sits in your lap. I was pleased to capture one nice image of her before she got up to love me.

LOL, I just had to. I had to. I am just SO beyond excited that I, after almost ten years of living here,…have gotten rid of my peachy/pink main floor toilet!

After years of disliking it, I had grown to hate it. It smelled now that I had a little boy who didn’t quite make it all the way into the toilet every time. So, because of this, under the toilet = YUCK. The seat started to peel. Do you really want to drop money on a peach/pink seat….I think NOT. We were going to just pull it up, clean it and put a new seal on it….but again why in the world would you put money into this toilet?

Now the bathroom remodel is finally getting underway! Now if any of you have had the joy and privilege to have used my 1st floor lav, then you know how desperate this room is. So now I have my new white Kohler toilet in my yucky bathroom with the linoleum floor that doesn’t quite stick down in all areas. I have my new white Kohler toilet to sit next to my old 1960’s peach/pink vanity sink (the one with the same counter top I had growing up…the one that has a part of it that no longer even has a finish on it). I have my new white Kohler toilet in the same room as the tub that matches the lovely sink and the OLD toilet. I have my new white Kohler toilet in the bathroom that has two enormous holes in the ceiling (the ones created by the second floor renovation).

All in time, it will all be replaced….just like my old yucky peach/pink Standard toilet. I can not wait!

OK so here is why these are going up. These are quite old. From back in the day when I had a so so camera, and very little knowledge of how to use it. I took these at a Tori Amos concert in 2005 I believe it was. It was an amazing concert. I am actually putting them up because I had to refer to the files to enter a contest. I am trying to win some free noise removing software and then some. These image can use it BIG time. I love them anyway.

This evening I had the pleasure of meeting this tiny peanut for the first time. Believe it or not, she is FOUR weeks old! Her due day is tomorrow…so she was a bit early! Let me tell you that she was a typical four week old…she didn’t like to be naked, she wanted to be awake, or be held. We worked with it. You would never know from looking at these sweet images that she was upset 90% of the time she was here.

I was so happy to get to photograph Miss G. I had the honor of photographing her parents last year for the engagement portraits. I look forward to watching this little lady grow!

I tried SO hard to email this to my kids when I was at Fenway....for whatever reason I could not email this or post it to the blog while I was there even though I was on a wifi connection. Anyway....I grabbed this shot primarily because I told the kids I would send it to them. I ended up sending them after the game. This gives you a pretty good idea of where we were sitting. Very nice seats for really watching the game :)
I had the best time....I was bummed however that J.D. Drew was not playing. I love him for various reasons. Anyway, Andy told me over and over that he would be the player we would see the best from our seats....I was stoked. Anyway he didn't play. BUT we did get a tee shirt for OUR Drew....we have been looking everywhere for one. It cost WAY too much, but it will be great. Another disappointment, not getting to see Papelbon pitch. I did get to see him walk out and grabbed a not so hot picture of him. I shouldn't complain, Lester pitched a great game. I am currently trying to recover the images off my messed up CF card....so will you all get to see better images of the game? Not sure....let's pray.

So, it is a half day at school. I had forgotten. Had tons of work to do, but now have four kids at home instead of two. I think "I can manage. The older two will help out." I hear "Mooooooooom...Drew has the peanut butter in the playrooooom!"

Today...busy day. Hard to get back to work after SOOOO many days off. I pretty much ignored my computer this weekend. I quite enjoyed that really.
Zoe and I went and bought the new Tori CD Friday night but I only got to listen to two songs on the way home...both I had heard. I totally forgot until late this afternoon that I had it in my bag!!! So, now I have been listening to it over and over. It always takes me a while to get into the vibe of a new cd of hers. I am pleased.
Today I played with making this maternity collage so I figured...on the blog it goes! I spent the rest of the day playing with making various size basic collage templates. Mostly for myself, but I am hoping that they might be something I either put up on my design blog for free or perhaps sell. Some really took quite some time, so those will probably have a small dollar amount attached to them, but the others that took literally a few minutes will go up for free. I still have some free actions to put on there as well...so if this information is something that applies to you...look out for that! For those that this information makes NO sense whatsoever...just enjoy the pretty pictures! OK...off you go...much more exciting things on the internet to surf...have fun!

Today I wanted to make note of the new changes I have made to the blog....hope everyone likes the new design. I have now listed the pages where I have card templates for sale {here} and the page where I am giving things away for free {here}.
Now, these are geared toward the professional photographer but it can most certainly be something that a digital scrapbooker would find useful. Anyone who is a photoshop user would benefit from these. I have created all these files in CS3 so I can not guarantee they work in lesser versions but I do believe they will work in PS7 and higher....elements, now that I am really not sure.
On the free page I currently have an action set for .25 inch print guides...SO helpful!I also have a free 8x10 four opening template. I am working on getting my free textures online as well. I am keeping up the current song of "makes me happy" because this makes me happy! So, check it out, pass on the information to those you might think can use them! {thanks}

So, what make me happy...hearing my oldest daughter sing this song at the top of her lungs...you know, the way a person sings when they have their earphones in their ears. I have to say....she sings like a "Trudeau" as my darling husband would say. He is just jealous. SO, the song was an obvious choice for me today. And Drake Bell is a cutie....can anyone disagree?So, the images on this blog post...well here is the story. I have been working on this website for my church. I am on the Nursery School Board and we figured it was really time to get the church and school into this century. And I volunteered...why? Cuz it makes me happy. I just am crazy I think. I really don't have time to do this stuff but I love it, and it does make me happy...really.

So, I went to photograph Piper's class last week. It was fun, they LOVED it. I am not used to shooting on location...it was weird to set up a light in their classroom...they were looking at me like I was nuts as I put up the umbrella. Outside, they were just all over, much harder to get anything resembling posed. Makes me love my studio even more!

So here is my work around.....I CAN put images of MY child here. I love that her hair is not perfect...it NEVER is! So I will be doing that, as well as one I took of the church from the school yard. Then my favorite of the bean plants :)

So, Skye had a playdate here today. So sad that we don't have more kids over...I guess we are just so busy with all the kids that actually LIVE here.

Anyway Z was off on a playdate so I was left with the same amount of kids as I usually have. Skylar was VERY excited to have pictures taken with her friend. She knows that I try to take a few so that I can print and frame them for their rooms.

So Miss A, will now be living in Skye's room. Skylar does NOT love the "seventies" version of her and Miss A....but I do. I included the full color version to make her happy....cuz you KNOW she will be on here checking it out.

She came to me earlier and said "have you finished my pictures yet...cuz it's been long enough". Have I ever mentioned her six year old attitude? Love her anyway.

So, I should be working on the image a friend gave me a while back...but it is a challenge so I guess I just work on other things to avoid it. I am sure it will come out great, but I still have not worked it out in my head on how I will make her wedding dress NOT look like a wedding dress. I guess instead of what I am doing right now, I should be folding the laundry that is sitting in a basket upstairs in the laundry room (I did fold two things before the kids distracted me from it). I should start thinking about what is for dinner tonight, or better yet what to feed the kids today for LUNCH. I should be working on getting pdf files ready for my website...but I know I will start and something on the internet will distract me. It always does. I start one thing, and an hour later I realize I never finished but started three new things (most not finished either). I frustrate myself. So, instead of all these things I should do today, I uploaded this picture of my youngest cat Pumpkin. I had been working on shooting digital props for myself and Pumpkin decided that it was her time to be in the spot light. I do like how she seems to match in coloring to the basket. She is such a pretty cat, I have such a love hate relationship with this her. She grows on me more each day. So, here is a personal share for today. And if we are lucky, I will get focused and get some more maternity shots from that session up on here.....we shall see.

I so often forget just how much I adore photographing pregnant woman! There is not a more fun session. Today I had another beautiful mom to be (I really have always lucked out on this one) and we really had fun and tried out some poses I have never done with another mom. I can not wait to meet her new bundle (her daughter is a doll), he is expected in about six weeks!
I think I picked out a nice song to go with these images "I knew I loved you before I met you"....it should be up on top for a few days...I do plan to post more from this session within the next few days! Enjoy.

Here is how to do that. For Facebook go to this page and click on become a fan. Now, you do need a Facebook account to do this...but you do not have to be a "friend" on my personal page. Remember that Facebook offers free accounts. The other thing you can do is to follow my blog. To do that just to look at the sidebar on the left. There you will see a box called "networked blogs" it is the one with the pictures of all the people (under the music player box) and click on the blue follow this blog box. That is it! You can do one or both. I suggest doing both as I do sometimes post images on Facebook that I do not put on the blog.

One side note...I do mention on the website that I only offer studio sessions....but hey you see some outdoor shots here on the blog, so what's the deal here? Well, what I do try to do, weather and time permitting, is to bring you out from the studio and into my backyard to try to get some natural light shots. I can never guarantee we can do that, but I love when I am able to.

A few small changes over at Carrie Bassett Photography starting 05-01-09

One thing that I am changing is the DVD slide show that I was including with a paid session fee. I have discovered this to be much more involved to produce than I had expected so I will no longer be offering this on new sessions as of today (if you have not put in your print order for a past session....you will still get your DVD!). The other small change is the sale on prints and packages have been in effect for over a year and I have taken that down. Instead, you can still get a discount on prints and packages when you place your order within seven days of your image gallery being ready to view. Please contact me with any questions!

I could not resist setting my niece up for this shot. We spent part of our school vacation week down and mom and dad's beach house in RI (thanks again mom) where my oldest sister's children were already down for the week. My father has kept our old bikes that must be from the late 70's but maybe the early 80's (she is a bit older than me LOL) but totally gave me the idea to use a photoshop action I have called "seventies" I just had to, I mean she is riding a bike with a banana seat! And my niece really looks VERY much like my sister did back then!
